It seems like flooring is becoming bolder and wilder all the time. Each new design is intended to trump the last in terms of having brighter colors or more complicated design elements. As the bar gets constantly raised for the newest and most interesting flooring styles, it is only logical that the torch getting passed will grow more unique and perhaps even bizarre as it moves about.
One such example of wildly done flooring is the geometric craze. As kids, shapes and colors were interesting to us, but we probably never expected to be walking on them someday. Lines and shapes may have been fun separately but put them together and you have a new beast entirely. The question that remains is whether that beast is too wild to befriend or something that can be tamed.
The trusty standby that is bold lines forming squares and rectangles is hanging onto its place in home flooring. Its glory days may be departing as new styles come in and take over, but the timeless classic that is thick lines and basic shapes lives on in many places. Still there is a comfort to be had when looking at such bold, familiar designs. They may take you back to a simpler time when playing with blocks of different shapes was all it took to make you happy, and it may make you happy now to see your children scurrying across a colorful, blocked floor doing much the same.
